when my mother started working it was a taboo, for a woman to have a career, then we had a breed of 50-50 after who came the mundane working woman, the extension house frau.my generation saw lot of immigrants to US
then the mothers and mother-in-laws became travellers to baby sit
then the mothers and mother-in-laws became travellers to baby sithere is a new trend, educated unemployed grandmother! a interesting scenerio, they are educated, early career women, who have done their 2-bits travelling to states and baby sitting. but they value their space more so are back, they have some mundane social activities but they live their grandmothership through surrogate grandchildren.
since they are adventerous learners the kids love their company. they are energetic and not averse to travelling but they need company so the laughter that they had given up has made an entry into their lives.
they have found an interesting balance between space and company.
